"Opera, a small and speedy browser that almost fits on a single
floppy, is one of the few real alternatives to the two major
browsers. In this latest version for Windows, Opera once again
demonstrates its commitment to making the Web accessible to all user
groups. Opera 5.1 supports all common Web standards, as well as
offering experimental support for WML. In addition, this latest
version includes an Instant Messaging client, an integrated search
tool, and OperaShow, which converts your browser into an advanced
presentation tool. Opera is free and supported by advertising. "

Click-N-Type. This program is an on-screen virtual keyboard designed for anyone with a disability that prevents him or her from typing on a physical computer keyboard. As long as the person can control a mouse, trackball or other pointing device, he or she can send keystrokes to virtually any Windows
application or DOS application that can run within a window. Click-N-Type
is a 32 bit application that requires Windows 95 or later. There are other
virtual keyboards around but you'll find Click-N-Type the easiest to use for
getting text into those uncooperative places like browser URL "Address:"
fields, Email "To:" addresses, Email "Subject:" fields, dialog boxes like
"Open" and "Save As...", and many other problematic applications."

Safeguards and SSL: Keeping your Financial Transactions Secure. "Many
small and medium-sized enterprises today are broadening their market share
by utilizing the Internet but in doing so, the need for security has become
paramount. From Mom and Pop operations to 500-employee corporations,
businesses are discovering - often the hard way - that the Internet can
sometimes be fertile ground for misuse of confidential information such as
financial data."

The Semantic Web. "A new form of Web content that is meaningful to computers will unleash a revolution of new possibilities. Most of the Web's content today is designed for humans to read, not for computer programs to manipulate meaningfully. Computers can adeptly parse Web pages for layout
and routine processing-here a header, there a link to another page-but in
general, computers have no reliable way to process the semantics. The
Semantic Web will bring structure to the meaningful content of Web pages,
creating an environment where software agents roaming from page to page can
readily carry out sophisticated tasks for users."

like an image, a floating frame can sit anywhere on the page. iFrames are
supported by Microsoft browsers, Netscape 6, and Opera 5.

Beware the "Work at home" scams.
By Roger Imai
"My dad was a packrat. He collected tools, tools, tools. I've become my dad, but with my own twist. I'm an information packrat. So, I'm usually a sucker for free books. When I saw this offer from http://www.homeemployed.com/10/ for a free digital e-book on work-at-home e-commerce opportunities, I WAS tempted. I noticed that this organization claimed to be an affiliate of http://www.cashmailbox.com/, then found that (1) all their pages were identical, (2) they offered no contact information, and (3) there was no mention of what kind of work was involved. But (4) they wanted your e-mail address so THEY could send you the e-book, rather than provide an anonymous direct download link.
This wasn't even spam, by the way. I subscribed to a humor newsletter called TwistedHumor.com. Now I'm having second thoughts, as this newsletter makes the advertising links scattered throughout the issues look like they're links to jokes. I can't say conclusively that the participants are all connected by a fraudulent network, but the signs were there. I think I just put myself on some biz-op mailing list.
These may even be connected with the paper signs you see posted along Nashville road intersections, that offer to tell you about how to "turn your home computer into a money-machine." If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Okay, maybe YOU won't fall for it, but there are others (like me) who might be tempted to think maybe THIS one is legit...
Anyway, the red flags made me do a little poking around, and I came up with these useful starting resources, for others who might be tempted to respond to online work-at-home opportunities. These showed me that cashmailbox.com and homeemployed.com both fall in with the pattern of fraudulent biz-ops."

IBM unveils all-in-one chip for Net devices. "The announcement by IBM is a
continuation of a trend in the chip industry to combine more and more
functions performed by multiple chips onto one chip. This becomes possible
as engineering advances allow more and more transistors to be packed onto a single semiconductor. "
